Ai Weiwei and Shepard Fairey drop politically charged decks protesting Trump

Trump's first 100 days in office summed up by two of the world's most well-known contemporary artists

The Trump administration has now been in office for a particularly painful 100 days, a thought that’s both horrifying and unbelievable in equal measure, so artists Ai Weiwei and Shepard Fairey have collaborated with the skateboarding non-profit The Skateroom to mark the unfortunate occasion. The Skateroom invites artists to create limited edition artworks on skateboards and uses a portion of the money raised to support non-profit projects and art institutions that seek to empower children through skateboarding and creative pursuits. The Skateroom has said that they allowed the artists free reign to create whatever their hearts desired, and what’s resulted is a series of politically charged skateboard decks that unabashedly take direct aim at Trump, and with one board depicting Ai Weiwei’s middle finger raised towards the White House, their sentiment couldn’t be clearer. Fairey’s creation is equally as direct, showing a man reading a newspaper with the headline “No future for apathy! Ignorance! Sexism! Xenophobia! Racism!” Head to The Skateroom to check them out, and if you’ve got a spare $3000 to blow then there’s definitely worse ways you could spend it.
