Since last year, March 26 has ascended from the rank of an ordinary day to Air Max Day- a celebration of Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary sneaker design which has continued to update, evolve and thrive for 28 years. This year, they took the Air Max design way back to its roots by launching the Air Max Zero. The shoe originally manifested as a sketch by Hatfield during the design process for the Air Max 1 but was too forward-thinking to see the light of day in 1987. If you’ve seen Respect The Architects – The Paris Air Max Story, you’ll know the exact sketch.

Finally, last night as the clock struck 12, the Zero was finally born and thrust into the peripherals of excited fans at Utopian Slumps, Melbourne.
ACCLAIM Magazine was there celebrating the silhouette and to help you feel like part of the hype, we’ve collected some photos from the night. Enjoy your Air Max day and if you’re curious about the evolution of the shoe’s design, check out more info on the Air Max here.
