Shantan Wantan Ichiban has just been wandering all over New Zealand thanks to Contiki’s Roaming Coordinates series. On the journey, he gave us a unique look into the country’s music, art, and food scenes, as well as the culture that underpins the unique quality of the country’s landscapes, cities, and people. To commemorate the adventure, DJ Shantan has whipped up a mix of deep cut hip-hop, soul, and New Zealand-side classic grooves. Fat Freddy’s Drop, P-Money, Scribe, and many more flit in and out on this auditory companion to the Roaming Coordinates episodes. Speaking of, have you had a chance to peep them yet? If not, check out my personal favourite episode, set in the artistically turgid city of Christchurch, below the tracklist.
