things that make you go hmmmmm

Nike have created a Gladiator Sandal.

That’s right, an open toed feminine high end shoe. Don’t be fooled by thinking this is a sports sandal that would only be worn poolside, no no, this is Nikes foray into female footwear outside of anything strictly sporty. It’s still sports inspired, but clearly this shoe aint for anything other than shopping and ‘going for coffee.’

To be honest, it don’t look so bad! It’s kind of given the original ‘reef’ or backpacker sandal a sporty and classy feel. It’s probably super comfy too, ya know being made by Nike and all… Wow I bet Jesus wishes he had some of these sandals back in the day.

But no matter how comfy they look or the fact they are made by my beloved Nike, I just aint feeling em. If you want to wear Nike on your hooves, cop some kicks or join a team and score some spikes. I can only imagine the type of girl that might wear these? The type who can’t handle wearing socks in summer incase the sweat ruins her pedi. (That’s a toe nail paint job for those who only know paint terminology of the graff kind)

When Nike released the Skinny Dunk and Blazer designs I was pretty anti at first because I thought it was just about as patronizing as a pink or purple colourway, but the designs have actually turned out really cool and it’s ace that chicks no longer have to wear kicks originally made for dicks. But this, this "sandal", this has just gone too far. What next? There's a weird "ironic" hipster vibe to these that I'm just not feeling. This is almost as bad as the Nike x Nylon magazine collabo. I get it, you want some of that hipster dollar but make them come to you, don't pander to their ridiculous and fickle needs. Let's hope there's no current plans for Nike lenseless glasses frames.

Update: In Nike's defence the shoe was the result of some collabo with an artist/designer/crazy-person, still don't make this shit right though!
