Yes, a Pantone Cafe exists. The seasonal pop-up serves beautifully aesthetic meals, coffee, pastries and ice-cream –  all colour matched to a specific Pantone colour. Eclairs are served in Pistachio Green (Pantone 13-0221) and Strawberry Pink (Pantone 16-1731), juice comes in Vibrant Orange (Pantone 16-1364) and even Water has its own assigned swatch (Pantone 5435 C) .

This all makes for an intense sensory experience. The vibrant tones used for each menu item produce colourfully crazed, and extremely photogenic food. The cafe takes food presentation to the next level, not only playing on your taste senses, but also your visual ones.

Pantone started up in the ’60s with the simple, yet very comprehensive, aim to help designers specifically match colours. However, the Pantone Cafe was not technically created by Pantone themselves. Similarly to the mugs and phone cases you see, the cafe was bought to us by an outsider company licensed through ‘Pantone Universe’ – the amazing world where the famous cardboard swatches of white, emboldened by the Pantone colours, become a mass produced commodity. The Pantone colour swatches have become iconography for a generation with a keen eye for colour. The cafe, located in Monaco, will be open until September 9 so book your flight asap.
