Brian Schreck has an innovative if not macabre way of helping people deal with loss. The music therapist uses an improvised stethoscope to record the patients heart-beats and then pairs it with their favourite music. The music differs from patient to patient and ranges from Ed Sheeran to Metallica. Leaving the vocals out, Schreck plays the music himself and has done more than a dozen for parents of children at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I’m not sold on putting my cardio to ‘Clique’ but it definitely adds a whole new level to living through music.
