Melbourne street skaters have slowly been kicked out of every decent skate spot that there is in our wonderful city, whether it be via arrogant security guards or the eye-sores that they call skate stoppers. Well, for some bizarre reason the council, when making the St Kilda skate park (which is predominantly for vert/transition skaters), capped all of the opportunities for skaters to use the street sections.

So now skater Marcus Johns has started a petition on Change.org to remove the skate stoppers, which reads:

“St Kilda Skatepark has very limited ‘Street’ skateboarding obstacles, and what the obstacles that were available to express yourself and skate have been capped with skate stoppers. This is ridiculous, I believe the council should invest their money into some street obstacles instead of wasting it putting it towards skate stoppers at a SKATE PARK... How ridiculous? Skate stoppers at a Skate Park? The removal of skate stoppers will encourage more creativity in the Art Form of skateboarding that we enjoy…”
