As a kid, I remember being glued to the television for hours on end and fascinating over the idea of becoming a professional wrestler. My heroes back then were those who launched themselves off the top rope and into the (un)welcoming arms of their opponent. Wrestlers like Triple H, Rey Mysterio, Stone Cold Steve Austin and the heartbreak kid Shawn Michaels dominated the ring and often, their entrance theme alone, had the ability to send audiences into a trance. The Undertaker is among one of those greats with the uncanny ability to transcend his actions beyond the ring and his return during the WWE’s Battleground event was nothing short of amazing.

While the main drawcard for the night in no way included The Undertaker, he couldn’t help but feel the need to impose his presence on the Heavyweight Championship title match between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins. After performing his finisher on Rollins, Lesnar attempted to pin his opponent when the arena went pitch black and a loud gong echoed the room. By the time the lights turned back on, Lesnar found himself standing toe to toe with the Undertaker and after a few exchanges back and forth, he was Tombstoned in spectacular fashion.

The Undertaker’s untimely return will undoubtedly pave the way for a showdown between the two giants at the next WWE event, so be sure to fellow along for the prequel. For now, relive all the action in our gallery above.
