Dat Kid From Cleveland Mixtape

The new mixtape Dat Kid From Cleveland from Kid Cudi sees him continue to experiment with sample and track selection accompanying his sing songy style of rapping with varying degrees of success. I'd highly reccomend skipping I Poke Your Face which see's Kanye, Common and Kid spitting over an accapella from Lady Gaga's Poker Face, need I say more? But don't get it twisted overall it's a pretty solid listen. This mixtape didn't get me hyped for Cudi like his 10 Deep Tape with Emile and Plain Pat which was more cohesive (to the point that you would be forgiven for mistaking it as an album) and saw him garner attention from both heads and hipsters. Stlll give this a spin and make your own conclusions. You can cop it here.

Thanks for stopping by the new ACCLAIM online presence, we're pretty wrapped with it overall and as both Andrew and Alex before me I can only re-iterate that these are early days. You'll see our list of contributors grow, our content start busting at the seams and the depth and breadth of the site itself expand. I know that we all hope you stay up on the regular, comment when you feel the need, and generally become an extension of the site itself.

As it is only the first couple of days live don't be surprised if you see some weird shit pop off here and there, just know we're on top of it and things will be running smooth soon enough!

Well I'll leave you to get your cyber wander on, to sign up to our newsletter, enter our comps and generally wallow in the dopeness.

Peace!

Ahhh, you have no idea how long I've been waiting to use that image for something and that time has come. Welcome to the new ACCLAIM website. Isn’t she beautiful? It’s taken much blood (the designer’s), sweat (the programmer’s), tears (mine) and conference calls but finally we’re ready and the real fun can begin. As a quarterly publication we know all too well how hard it is waiting for each issue to come out. We love our readers and want to give you more, and more is just what you’re gonna get with this baby. The ACCLAIM web portal means we can be in your faces on a day-to-day basis. Yes! We’ve gone from in your hands just four times a year to your daily hot-spot for everything 'street lifestyle'.

During the coming weeks we’ll be introducing you to our web contributors, each one unique and wise in their own particular way. We’ve got guys (and girls) from all over the world and from every discipline, so this blog is going to be a real wealth of recent shit that we just can’t fit in the mag.

The site is just at phase one at the moment, so bear with us if some links are

Acclaim 2009

Acclaim 09

What a tumultuous start to the year it has been. Avid readers of ACCLAIM will have noticed by now that issue 16 is running late. I won’t lie, the economy has made things more difficult than usual for us, but we’re not alone. Every day another magazine folds or cuts its staff numbers in half, scales down its circulation and/or reduces the quality of its paper stock, whatever it takes to reduce their production budget. We’re just glad to still be here amongst the unfolding carnage of the magazine publishing industry and y’all should be happy to know that there will be no change to the quality of ACCLAIM Magazine and we’re still alive and ready to kick some serious ass in 2009.

We’ve now surpassed the three year mark for ACCLAIM and this year sees the realisation of several of our goals, beginning with the launch of this here website. While we have had web presence in various forms since we started, it’s only after many months of hard work that this site has come to fruition in a format that I feel is truly reflective of ACCLAIM. And this is only faze one. In a few weeks we will be hitting you with our new
