Just two weeks before he was due to arrive in Australia Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange has cancelled his tour. The artist was originally due to perform at Sugar Mountain festival in Melbourne as well as a solo show in Sydney. A press release from promoters this morning cites a family members’ ill health as the reason behind the cancellation.

The release quotes Dev, “I was looking forward to visiting Australia this year. Unfortunately due to personal and family matters, and after much consideration, I’ve decided to cancel these shows to spend time with my family. Sending love in the new year.” 

Sugar Mountain has announced four new artists to their lineup as replacement acts. The one day festival will now featuring sets from The Avalanches, Spank Rock, Young Tapz, and HABITS. Ticket holders for the Sydney solo show will be offered refunds.

While it’s tough news for fans who were looking forward to seeing Dev perform music from his outstanding 2016 release Freetown Sound you have to respect a man who looks after his family. Now excuse us while we go bump that album on repeat.
