With his solo exhibition White Dreams opening tonight in Hawaii’s Loft in Space gallery, we thought it was the perfect time to check back in with Kamea Hadar after our full length interview we did with him earlier this year and hear about what was involved with putting together this epic new body of work.

My name is…
 Kamea Namba Hadar

But I’m also known as…

Babes by my girl, Pal by my mom and grandma, Fufi by my dad, Hawaiian Boy by my Jamaican in-laws, Kam Job to some of the boys, Melafefone Chamutz in Israel but mostly just plain old Kamea.

My latest exhibition is called… White Dreams.

And it is about… Sex, love, death and the human condition.

Some things that influenced this series are… Both my homes: Hawaii and Israel.

An album I listened to a stack when making the works was… Ratatat Remixes Vol 1 & 2.

The time of day I’m most likely to make art is… Morning, even though I’m a night owl. Work before play.

The hardest part of putting this show together was… Painting the ceiling upside-down on three stories of scaffolding.

First thing I do when I get up in the morning is… Brush my teeth and drink coffee… shitloads of coffee.

Some other artists I have been enjoying the work of are… Samuel Rodriguez, Meggs and Rone.

What I’m working on at the moment is… The 300 square foot ceiling piece.

My favourite colour is… White at the moment, but sometimes black.

If I wasn’t doing what I’m doing, I’d be… A carpenter/contractor/builder/sculptor like my pops.

The last website I visited was… LaybackLarry.com

My favourite youtube vid is… Trailers to surf/skate/snow vids like Intentio and Art of Flight, and some of the funny animal vids that Jeff posts on ArtVandelay.com

Tomorrow I will be… One day closer to the opening of my show and one day closer to having some time to surf, fish, dive (spearfish), hunt and drink on the Big Island with my friends.
