Very early this morning (at least for us here in Australia) Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 4 collection in an outdoor show at Franklin D Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park in New York, amidst a swathe of sunshine and apparently grossly dehydrated models. It signalled the start of New York Fashion Week and Ye becoming mad with creative power.

The show commenced at almost 5pm NY time with an army of Ye’s carefully selected “multiracial” models standing in a statuesque configuration; each wearing different coloured Spanx-looking garments which gradually formed a colour gradient from the first line to the last. Shortly afterwards, various models [including newly catapulted star Teyana Taylor and Justin Bieber’s rumoured new boo, Sofia Richie] took their turn down the runway.

Kanye himself even made an appearance down the runway, sporting his favoured all-black attire and increasingly waning posture. In completely ground-breaking news, he was also smiling.

Everything went off without a bang. Well, except for the number of standing models who were forced to sit due to the 30+ degrees of sun beating down on them.

Unlike earlier Yeezy Season launches, yesterday did not mark the release of any new music. This was a first, considering that the tracks ‘Wolves’ and ‘Fade’ were both premiered at Yeezy Season 1 and 2, respectively. Kanye’s latest record The Life of Pablo was also premiered at the Yeezy Season 3 launch at Madison Square Garden earlier this year. And let’s not forget the silent film which accompanied Yeezy Season 2 last year.

The entire launch was available to livestream on TIDAL. However, if you missed it then check out this full stream of the event from Elle here.

Check out some snaps from the launch in the above gallery.
