Move over Pokémon, Rick and Morty are coming to VR

Owlchemy Labs and Adult Swim set to bring the smash hit comedy to virtual reality

Posted by

With all the hubbub surrounding the recent release, and subsequent success, of Pokémon GO, you would be forgiven for wondering if anything else even exists. Of course, it has to be the team over at Adult Swim, with the help of gaming development company Owlchemy Labs, to remind you what beauty exists outside the world of Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and gang, with the announcement of a forthcoming Rick and Morty virtual reality game, no less.

From the same gaming company behind the popular Job Simulator and based, of course, on the hugely popular Adult Swim comedy, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality promises to put you in the shoes (quite literally) of the eponymous heroes from the animated classic, travelling through the various dimensions and encountering all of the hilarity and chaos seen throughout the show’s first two seasons. With Adult Swim and the Rick and Morty team, themselves, on board to guide the VR release’s direction, fans awaiting the series’ third season (expected late 2016) will be chomping at the bit to dive back in to the world(s) of Rick and Morty.

Announced initially for the HTC Vive, Owlchemy Labs and Adult Swim will be showcasing the game at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, showing off all of the simulated hilarity and chaos fans can look forward to from the game’s release. For those of us unable to see the game for ourselves at SDCC, we only have the above 13-second video to go by, and hopes that maybe the release will be a little something like Roy: A Life Well Lived.
