Melbourne MC Remi has been on a pretty good run this year. After performing at Groovin The Moo and touring around Australia, he has dropped the second single from his anticipated sophomore album Divas and Demons, which is set to drop in September. The track titled, ‘Substance Therapy’ is a collab with frequent musical partner Sensible J who adds heavy bass and fuzzy synths to compliment Remi’s powerful spits. And it’s a heavy one, with ‘Substance Therapy’ speaks on mental health, attributing depression to substance use.

“Depression is a demon in a scream mask, brandishing a hunting knife. When I take drugs, or drink it’s the equivalent of giving that motherfucker the coordinates to my house. It just makes everything so much worse. This is basically the sound of coming down.”

The music video follows Remi as he walks along train tracks and across piers whilst he honestly and refreshingly raises awareness of the not-so-glamourous side of drug use. Watch the video above and if you’re organised enough to have your tickets, you can look forward to catching him at Splendour in the Grass this month. Keep up to date with Remi on Facebook and Soundcloud.
