A$AP Rocky speaks on his JW Anderson collection

“The first rule of AWGE is don’t ask questions about AWGE”

A$AP Rocky has again completed the transition from customer to collaborator after teaming up with JW Anderson on their AWGE collaboration. What is AWGE? No need to Urban Dictionary it because it’s not there (I checked), but don’t feel out of the loop because not even JW Anderson himself knows.

“No one needs to know what the letters stand for. We know what it is, and that’s how we want to keep it,” says Rocky.

Rocky explains (kind-of), “The first rule of AWGE is don’t ask questions about AWGE. The second rule of AWGE is that if you are a part of AWGE, then you cannot discuss AWGE. The third rule of AWGE is refer back to rule number one if you have any questions.”

Okay, so that didn’t clear anything up at all. Nonetheless, this is what we actually do know about the anticipated collection; it consists of two faux fur “teddy” jackets and knit hats, track jackets, and track pants. Rocky hasn’t been shy in confessing his love for Anderson’s furs, mock necks, turtlenecks, and square zipper designs in the past, so it comes as no surprise that their collaboration includes all of the above. Rocky has even worn some of Anderson’s zipped track tops in his music videos, so it’s expected that the AWGE line will receive some on-stage spotlight at upcoming performances.

“You know when you have creative people just sitting around and like reluctant to work just for the sake of being cliché or predictable? Some people just wanna be friends. But we got to a point where we were, okay, let’s just put something out—let’s collaborate,” Rocky says.

AWGE is set to drop in Shoreditch Workshops stores on Monday with prices ranging from $275 (knitted hat) to $1,300 (fur ‘teddy’ coat).  Check out some of the pieces from the JWA x A$AP Rocky collection in the gallery above and if you’re super keen to make a purchase, you can pre-order these winter must-haves online.
