Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Adidas München Oktoberfest

2017 has seen a lot of advancement, from the increasing role of virtual reality, to the production of an iphone 8, and even Elon Musk’s revolutionary ‘SpaceX’. And yet, Adidas have topped the lot. The Adidas München Oktoberfest is set to save us from the dangers of sloppy drunks and ourselves with their latest innovation—a beer repellent upper. In celebration of this years upcoming Oktoberfest, where beer and overflow will be plentiful, the latest München silhouette has been inspired by Bavarian Leather pants for a premium finish with a DPBR coating making it a serious task to get them dirty. If you’re pre-empting a heavy session of festivities, then hangout for these to release on September 2 from selected retailers.

02. Kendrick Lamar dumps Reebok for Nike

Compton based rapper Kendrick Lamar who was previously tied to Reebok has officially announced a new partnership with Nike. Whilst rumours had already been circling for sometime after Kendrick was seen wearing the classic Nike Cortez during his sold-out DAMN tour, the artist finally announced the news on his Instagram earlier this week. With the Nike Cortez gaining some serious traction over the course of the year and their latest Kenny Moore edition a hit, an upcoming Kendrick Lamar silhouette could cement the Cortez as a crowd favourite of 2017. Stay tuned for more details and possible release dates as they develop.

03. A$AP Ferg x Adidas Skateboarding Collection

Fashion’s love affair with the A$AP mob is set to continue with Ferg’s upcoming Trap Lord collaboration with Adidas skateboarding, releasing on the September 5. The extensive collection features a windbreaker, sweatpants, Jersey, tee, hat, and of course the Matchcourt x Trap Lord sneaker which stands as the head honcho of the collab.

The lyrics from his song ‘Strive’ with Missy Elliot emblazon the laces while porcelain white leather plays backdrop to a maroon 3 stripe branding with a cream toecap and midsole. The collection in its entirety was inspired by the mismatched style of the inner city Harlem youth and a representation of the age old hip-hop, skate, and sport trifecta. Check out Ferg’s new ‘Nandos’ video which was released in conjunction with the collection to see the man himself rocking it head to toe.

Converse have announced ‘Public Access’, a show aimed at embodying the vast array of voices and visions of todays youth. The organic format and open forum allows each host to express themselves with the help of their friends, a mix of artists, innovators, activists, and young visionaries. Public Access will premiere via streams on Twitter on the September 6, bringing together the unique video series with real-time fan conversation and reaction.

05. DJ Khaled previews Undefeated x Nike Air Max 97

A second colourway of the heavily anticipated Nike x Undefeated Air Max 97 has been previewed by none other than the king of social media DJ Khalid. With the Italy inspired iteration in all black releasing today on the first of September, we can hopefully assume that this second all white colourway will come to fruition by the end of the month or sooner despite no official drop dates having been released. The wait now begins to see if DJ Khaled will bust one of his awe inducing dance numbers in this new silhouette, and whether or not it will improve on what is already widely considered to be perfect. Stay tuned for more information on release dates and stockists.

06. First look at the Karl Lagerfeld x Vans

Only a week after the announcement of Karl Lagerfeld x Vans a first look at the collection has been released. Comprising of 12 pieces in its entirety the partnership will feature, a redesign of the Sk8-Hi and Old School as well as hoodies, t-shirts, a backpack, and the undoubted headliner: chequerboard slip-ons. This new iteration will see a black and white silhouette of the designer himself replacing the iconic chequerboard print. The capsule collection will be unveiled at Berlin’s Bread & Butter trade show this weekend, before its worldwide release on the 7th of September. Pieces will range from $40-$300USD.
