New Zealand are calling all freelance graphic designers, artists, primary school students, and basically anyone with Photoshop or MS paint to submit their ideas for the country’s new national flag. The ‘Flag Consideration Project’ has arisen out of the debate on whether or not the NZ flag accurately represents the country’s independence and cultural values. Really though, we suspect the initiative is just an attempt to squash any aesthetic ties with Australia since their current flag looks so similar to ours and no one wants to be accused of style biting. Regardless, the $20 million project has already seen over 850 submissions and we’ve taken it upon ourselves to highlight a selection of our favourite contenders.
