UK artist INSA recently hit our shores and gave Melbourne’s graffiti-ridden exteriors a run for its money. In collaboration with street artist Rone, the pair have created their very own piece of ‘Gif-iti’, an innovative art project tailored to the internet world rather than the city’s streets. The ‘Gif-iti’ technique involves painting layer after layer, photographing each change in order, and then stringing the pictures together into a sequence played on a loop in GIF form. The INSA X RONE collab resulted in a 600 pixel looping animation featuring a transparent blinking face over a moving cube spiral vortex, located in Collingwood, Melbourne.
