The enigmatic French street artist JR spoke recently at TED about his ‘Inside Out’ project. While the artist is recognised worldwide for his huge paste-up photo portraiture, his latest venture flips the script. For the past year JR has been producing posters on behalf of individuals who submit photos to him, on the proviso that they paste up and document the results.

JR has turned his art practise into a platform for social discourse, putting the emphasis on the participants rather than his own work. Throughout his talk he refuses to take the shine for the works, instead choosing to publicly highlight some of the participants.

As a former TED Prize winner, there’s no doubt that JR is committed to his vision of changing the world.
