The Heavy Collective have just launched their online store with a new four-part zine from Sydney photographer Sam Stephenson.

One Two Three Four is a document of those close to Sam, jumping between subtle humour and hijinks to candid intimacy. His images are an anthology of his world, his friends and all its peripheries; reckless, comic and cracked.

One Two Three Four sets a tone that is loose and informal, a casual and unrelated body of images were compiled and rationalised by way of four volumes, each one with a distinct theme, allowing the audience to make sense of the chaos within Sam’s world. Uncanny encounters with strangers, violence, intimate portraits of his nearest and dearest. Sam’s work is firmly braced by striking composition and he plays confidently with form and balance, elevating the everyday towards something arresting and intelligent.”

Go and cop the zine, it’s only $25 with a load of material inside — Heavy Collective SHOP

Late last year Sam had a solo show at kind of — gallery, the show was called The Future Just Happened. This mini-documentary was shot by Joshua Heath to support the exhibition which was about home-made / stick-and-poke tattoos. It gives a bit of insight into Sam’s photographic process.
