Although they are based in Washington DC, it’s not that surprising that the Liu Xiang Design architecture firm recently won a competition for the ‘shaoxing cultural creativity park project’ in the Zhejiang province in China.

The striking 160,000 square metre Di Dang City Center project features three glass towers, elevated walkways and a large open-water public space. The structure’s main feature; the multi-storeyed open-air spiralling green space, is meant to invoke spiral staircases and tie the buildings to thier environment.

The building isn’t due to be completed until 2016, but the concept photos are so impressive that I just had to share.
