In our new column, Spread Em, we ask some nice people to show us some pages from their favourite tomes, and tell us why they find these books a great source of inspiration. We kick off with San Jose artist and designer, Samuel Rodriguez.

Hiroshige

“This is a great read about the history of Japanese Wood Block Prints. Even better are the large pictures and spreads. There are so many details and treasures to be seen here. The typographic layouts are awesome as well.”

Scripts

“One of my personal favorites, I’m always humbled and inspired when viewing the signs in this book. It records a history of Script through various signage and writing on how this style of writing came to be. A must for the collection.”

Klimt

“I wish I could share more books of my favorite artists, but since I have to choose one, it must be Klimt. Genius.”

History of Graphic Design

“This is a must for anyone that likes to geek out on graphic design logos, type and ad campaigns. It’s a collection of the history’s best designs dating back to Egyptian Hieroglyphics.”
