19-year-old French artist Candice Drouet has created her 37th  piece for visual project My life in 1.000.000 Frames. Drouet’s objective is to collect short clips and stills from every film that she has ever seen. Using the quick flashing of images to tell a story of art and creation, she shows her life through her film consumption, depicting images themselves as life forms.

This particular piece is a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki, and his beautifully crafted animations and acute attention to detail. The supercut features some of Miyazaki’s best works, featuring clips from Ponyo, My Neighbour Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Kiki’s Delivery ServicePorco RossoPrincess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. The sentimental accompanying song ‘Always with me’, from Spirited Away, seems appropriate as Miyazaki’s films live on in all of us.

If you want a quick walk through cinematic memory lane, check out the two-minute clip above. Although we get the feeling it will probably induce a desire to put on one (or three) of your favourite Miyazaki films.
