Hair by Where Are You From is the latest instalment in Melbourne creative Sabina McKenna‘s ongoing art project ‘Where Are You From‘. The latest edition of the series is the first to explore a topic that intersects with cultural identity; the European beauty standard and its impacts on people of colour. The series aims to build pride and identity for women with textured hair by celebrating all of its beautiful variations. It features 26 stories written by BIPOC womxn living in Melbourne/Naarm alongside a series of portraits by photographer Shannon May Powell.

The series kicked off on June 29 and will be updated daily on the official WAYF Instagram feed and in their stories until July 3rd. The full project will also be made available in the form of a zine. Keep it locked to WAYF for the full details.
