Nobody’s safe from the coco… or the internet. The latest bizarre drug news comes from Sydney, where a 91-year-old man has been detained after arriving home from India with five kilos of cocaine concealed in bars of soap. The blow’s street value is estimated at a cool $1 million.

Retired dentist Viktor Twartz appeared in court on Tuesday and has been charged for drug trafficking. Mr Twartz appears to have been catfished by a drug smuggling group in India, who contacted him via email, paid for his trip to India and convinced him to take the soap back home as “gifts for a person in Australia”.

As obvious as this scam appears, federal police say it’s not uncommon, with dozens of Aussies being caught up in international drug smuggling rings after falling for these schemes in recent years. Mr Twartz’s case has been adjourned until October.
