Forget about ‘The Clapper’, this Italian designer has managed to rig a lamp to change tone according to your facial expression. Vittorio Cuculo wanted to “remove the mediation between human and machine typical of classic interfaces” with his invention, which uses a web cam (and a whole bunch of highly advanced scientific technology) to read your facial expression and change the colours of his Ikea lamp respectively. Novel? Yes. Practical? I’m not sure. I kind of like hiding behind my ‘Bitchy Resting Face’ syndrome than to have the entire room know I’m actually pissed off because of my damn over-intelligent lamp.
