It’s been about a 30 year wait for the Ghostbuster reboot and there’s a twist…

The original director, Ivan Reitman and the cast members including Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson, were all on-board for the trilogy, with the exception of Bill Murray. The project had been stalled and held in development limbo, then Reitman bowed out when Ramis passed away last February. Director Paul Feig of Bridesmaids and The Heat was approached to re-envision the project and breath life back into it. His plan? An all female group of paranormal fighters will be picking up the proton packs this time around.

While negotiations are still in the works, Feig has been dropping hints on Twitter and even given a prospective release date of July 22, 2016. The leading names floating around are fellow Bridesmaids alumni, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, also Saturday Night Live’s Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
