Have you ever thought about what the world might look like in 100 years’ time? Back to the Future proved it was a difficult task pinpointing the advances in technology and general look of the future – we’re still waiting for those god damn hoverboards that actually hover. John Malkovich, however, has decided to test his own imagination of what the future will hold in the movie titled 100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See. Malkovich wrote the script and stars in the film that was directed by Robert Rodriguez. There is however a slight catch… The film will not be available to watch until November 18, 2115. That’s right, you read that correct, there isn’t a typo — 2115. Just under 100 years away.

The film has been placed in ‘a special safe that will open automatically in 100 years when the timing is complete’. It will tour around the world after the Cannes Film Festival, where it will be showcased (in its safe) but not screened. Until it finally reaches its home for the next 100 years, a vault owned by Cognac brand Louis XIII.

The official trailer, which you can watch above – seems pretty legit, especially based on the fact that Rodriguez is no stranger to marketing gimmicks – remember that time Spy Kids came with smell? It will be interesting to see if the movie based 100 years in the future will escape the vault or remain a secret until then. I guess we’ll have to tell our grandchildren to wait and see.
