There is no doubt in my mind that if there is one thing that every man envies, it is definitely another man’s ability to grow out a full beard. I certainly do. On numerous occasions I’ve gone without shaving for a couple weeks and the most I’ve been able to achieve is a bit of fluff on the outer and a shitty mo’. If there was ever a way to alter my genetic makeup to include this ability, I most definitely would. Dudes with beards just seem to have a bit more confidence in their step and for long, it has been believed that it helps them score. But those days may be over.
According to new studies conducted by Eva and Censuswide, there has been a noticeable shift in the attitudes of many towards facial hair. The survey revealed that a large majority of female respondents, 65% for that matter, had said they weren’t fond of men with beards and more than half said they’d never consider getting romantically involved with a beard-wearer. Take that!
Other interesting findings from the survey include:
- 45% of men with facial hair were more inclined to involve themselves in a fight, compared to the 29% of those who are clean shaven.
- 47% of bearded men admitted to being unfaithful in comparison to the 20% of those who don’t sport any facial hair.
- 44% of respondents perceived big beards as being unhygienic and 39% of women feared they’d find food stuck in the man’s facial hair.
There is no telling whether or not this will alter society’s perception of the beard, but this is definitely a small win for men like me who can’t grow one.
