The 88th Academy Awards are well under way and while we’re all pretty stoked that Leo finally gets his trophy (even though we kind of also hoped he wouldn’t) this year’s Oscars served up a few other interesting moments as well. Mad Max: Fury Road was a pretty big winner, scooping a ton of the technical awards; the heartbreaking Amy winning best documentary; and tear-jerker Inside Out taking out the best animated film category.

There’s been a fair bit of controversy surrounding this year’s award ceremony, particularly when it comes to the very touchy issue of diversity, but the award show hasn’t been overly dramatic itself. Outspoken actress Stacey Dash seemed to be an odd choice of presenter as she ‘paid tribute’ to Black History Month even though she’s been well-documented in saying she thinks the celebration should be axed completely. Host Chris Rock obviously used his position to shed a little light and humour onto the issue, taking jabs at Jada Pinkett Smith as well as the Academy itself over the lack of diversity within this year’s (and most years’) Oscar nominees.
