With the release of Zoolander No.2 just weeks away, it seems everyone is desperate to get the lowdown on what it’s like to be a male model IRL.

A former professional model by the name of Shine Adams has taken it upon himself to educate us on the #farshun industry in a very comprehensive Reddit AMA. In it, he answers questions regarding his former life of glamour: modelling for big name designers, going to hedonistic vice-filled parties, and working alongside supermodel Adriana Lima. But he also sheds light on some of the less ritzy aspects of the profession life, such as walking down catwalks in shoes FOUR SIZES TOO BIG. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, apparently.

There are some classic Zoolander references throughout, as well as some insightful commentary into the industry.
