Move over Shredder, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are about to face their greatest challenge thus far as they vie for nostalgia, recognition, respect, and a spot in America’s National Toy Hall of Fame. Each year the Toy Hall of Fame inducts one toy into the ranks of some of the most venerable toys of all time, and with this year’s most notable entrants including the spinning top, the colouring book, the Super Soaker, the scooter, and Twister, TMNT might find more than a little difficult.

To be honest, the Toy Hall of Fame seems to be little more than a directory of some of the longest running, most popular toys of all time, and it’s probably just a matter of time before each of the nominees still running are inducted. Case in point, some past winners include Lego, Scrabble, chess, and the Game Boy (pretty much a ‘best of’ everyone’s childhood).

That said, TMNT might have some pretty stiff competition in the Super Soaker, as it’s definitely one of the cooler entrants of 2015. Check out a few classics in the gallery above.
