Forget about that adventure holiday, exotic beach-side getaway, or backpacking through Europe, this is about to be your new must-go destination… if it gets off the ground. The Santee Sioux tribe in South Dakota, USA, has plans to open the country’s (and the world’s?) first marijuana resort. The tribe has only recently been granted permission to grow and sell marijuana but are obviously not sleeping on the potential opportunities this could afford the native community. According to tribal president Anthony Reider “We want it to be an adult playground.” Oh, it’ll be a playground alright!

The resort is set to house a smoking lounge, nightclub, arcade games, bar and food service, slot machines and an outdoor music venues, if everything goes to plan. And this is in addition to an already successful casino, hotel, and buffalo ranch. There will, of course, be some sort of order about the operation, with restrictions slated for the amount and price of weed, as well as where you’re able to smoke it. Nevertheless, the organisers are staying optimistic, saying they are looking to get the party started by New Year’s Eve and hope the venture will generate up to $2 million profit per month. Hopefully this doesn’t just go up in smoke but we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on developments.
