Youtube channel CineFix has added another clip to its series of animated homages to iconic films — creating an amazing 8-bit version of the ’80s teen classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The film follows loveable wild-child Ferris, his best-mate Cameron, and girlfriend Sloane as they escape school for the day and explore the big city.

The video leaves no storyline from the original film untouched, with the 8-bit characters doing almost everything their movie-versions do: sneaking their way into a fancy restaurant, checking out the view from the Sears Tower, and visiting the Art Institute of Chicago (where Cameron has his cathartic moment with an old painting). It even shows Ferris jumping on board the float at the German street parade where he brings the city to a standstill with his rendition of ‘Twist and Shout’.

To be honest, we recommend everyone take a few minutes to revisit the story of Ferris: ultimate childhood hero and inspiration behind every elaborately planned high school sick-day. But if you’re a film buff, video game aficionado, or fan of retro-notalgia, then you definitely need to check it out.
