Melbourne native Kyrie Irving, who since the 2013 NBA All Star Game has become a bonafide basketball superstar released the latest ‘Uncle Drew’ Pepsi commercial last Monday. The series, which features the 2011 no. 1 draft pick and rookie made-up as an old man, follows Uncle Drew trying to put back together his old team and schooling some ‘young blood’ basketball players in street games.

In this latest instalment, Uncle Drew shifts from New Jersey to Chicago, where Uncle Drew goes to a jazz bar to track down ‘Lights’ (Nate Robinson), who joins up in spite of opposition from ‘Betty Lou’ (Maya Moore), an overprotective woman friend.

Denver Nuggets guard and two-time slam dunk champion Nate Robinson, lobbied long and hard to earn his place as ‘Lights’ in the latest video, talking to Irving during games, on Twitter and Facebook until Irving finally succumbed. The video also features Maya Moore, of the WNBA championship team the Minnesota Lynx, who appears as ‘Betty Lou’, the first woman featured in the series. Sadly absent is ‘Wes’ (Kevin Love) who was presumably still in New Jersey.

Chapter three ends with Uncle Drew saying “Going to get the big man. We need him.” So its anyone’s guess which NBA centre will feature next…
