The trailer for episode VII in the Star Wars Saga has been released and for Star Wars fans, the countdown to December now begins.

Any doubts about Disney’s $US4 billion acquisition of Lucasfilms effecting the film have been eradicated by this action packed 2 minute trailer which ends with the iconic Star Wars characters, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhewletting fans know “Chewie, we’re home.”.

Ford and Mayhew will also be joined by original stars: Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), and R2-D2 (Kenny Baker).

J.J Abrams is the director behind the 7th instalment and has told a panel discussion that although at times he felt daunted from the task of delivering a movie to millions of fans, he “can’t wait for you to see the movie.”

In anticipation of the film, Twitter have partnered with Lucasfilm and Disney to create custom Star Wars emojis. A handful of iconic characters will be released in emoji form, and also new characters from The Force Awakens.

Twitter users that post hashtags that are associated with specific Star Wars characters and legacy themes will see a small emoji-like icon attached to the end of the tag, embedded within the Tweet.

Episode VII in the Star Wars Saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opens in theaters December 18, 2015.
