Your Game Boy Classic can now fly a drone too

Jumping on the Pokemon drone bandwagon, sort of

So first it was brought to light that you could catch your Pokemon with a drone. Now, it looks like the Game Boy classic has followed suit. Gautier Hattenberger has found a way to fly a drone via the controls of a Game Boy Classic. *Cue 90s nostalgia*.

That catch? It has received quite a bit of flack online. Probably due to the fact that a connection primarily involves a laptop rather than the Game Boy itself. It also looks incredibly difficult to function. In basic terms, the Game Boy Game port channels an Arduino/FTDI combination that is converted to USB. This USB is then connected to a laptop, which instructs the drone via a software known as Paparazzi Ground Control Station.

Pretty tedious, right? But hey, at least it’s possible. We’re just impressed that the batteries still function. Take a look at the video, as well as the instruction diagram, in the gallery above. If you’re willing to tackle the task, good luck.
