To mark the 20th anniversary of the Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo have dusted themselves off after a five year hiatus to serve up some nostalgic vibes in the form of ‘Yesterday’. Paying homage to their predecessors, the single infuses new and old school BEP sound and samples some of rap’s founding fathers including N.W.A, Run DMC, A Tribe Called QuestOl’ Dirty Bastard, KRS One, Diamond D and more.

The accompanying music video places the three remaining members of BEP at their local record shop, replicating themselves into some of their favourite album covers. However, it seems the idea for the clip was indeed replicated in itself, with the visuals bearing a significant resemblance to that of Erykah Badu‘s ‘Honey’. Badu took to her respective social media pages to voice her concern about the similarity of the two videos and while she doesn’t seem so hasty about the situation, I’d sure love to see her ‘beat up Will.i.am’.

Nonetheless, the new BEP released track is a breath of fresh air and while there is no indication of whether or not we will see a new album in the future, if it so happens to follows suit to ‘Yesterday’, we are in for a real treat. Be sure to check out the video in our gallery above.
