In the final hype move ahead of his album release, Schoolboy Q has unleashed a fire remix for his single ‘That Part’. Q fans must already be pretty for Blank Face to drop but lovers of his whole crew will definitely be down for this iteration, which brings together fellow Black Hippy reps, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and of course, the dude Kendrick Lamar. Kanye West takes a break on this one, which initially allows the track to sound a little more chill until Q jumps back on the track for the final passionate verse.
Everyone expectedly holds their own in their respective verses, with the common theme of discontent and desire to triumph over varying levels of adversity, which is probably more relevant now more than ever in light of recent tragedies in the US. And while this should serve as a suitable preparation for Q’s release—which literally dropped as we were writing this—we couldn’t help but notice the reference to Soulo’s imminent project “coming up next”.
