UPDATE: The xx are back in January 2018 (with special guests Kelela and Earl Sweatshirt) click here for all of the info.

In an exciting announcement, indie/electronica and all round generally badass collective of artists The XX are touring Australia in July. They wrote on their Facebook this morning they will be running a ballot for tickets to their two gigs at the Melbourne Forum on July 18th and Sydney Metro on July 20th “to stop touts getting all the tickets”. (“Touts’, FYI, is English-slang for ‘scalpers”.) And that they – “Hope to see you. xx The xx” – surely, I’m not the only one fainting a little bit in anticipation.

For Melbourne enter the ballot here.

For Sydney enter here.

In case you don’t know too much about The Xx – the London based band of Oliver Sim, Romy Madley-Croft, Baria Qureshi, and Jamie Smith suddenly entangled audiences around the world with their hit Crystallised and self titled album in 2009. The mysterious looking producer of the group Jamie (Xx) became a underground sensation with his grime/garage rework album of Gil Scott Heron – We’re New Here, before he sadly passed away. They have since announced they will be releasing a new album on the Young Turks label, called Coexist. On the new material the band says: “After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these new songs that we’re so looking forward to playing to you.”

Oh. My. God.
