Taking time out of playing his first Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee, James Blake has dropped a bunch of album bombshells, including a brief but ideal list of recent collaborators in an interview with Billboard.
With work on his third studio album “about 50% done,” Blake has once again been working with Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, (whom he teamed up with in 2011 to record Fall Creek Boys Choir) and Kanye West when he can catch up with the rapper.
While Blake doesn’t confirm that the songs will actually find their way onto a release, it’s hard not to get excited at the thought of artists with careers as prolific and genre-bending as those three even being in the same room. Blake vaguely mentions a secret third collaborator saying, “There’s somebody else I don’t want to mention right now, but who I’m really excited about too.” With Blake guessing at an early 2015 release, all you can do now is cast your bets at who this will be.
