If you need another reason to see Suicide Squad, Kehlani has delivered one with her new song ‘Gangsta’ joining the star-studded soundtrack. The track is a perfect marriage between toughness and tenderness with an air of love and rebellion to it.

‘Gangsta’ premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio with David Ayer, the films director calling in to chat about Kehlani’s song. Ayer described the track as “raw, broken yet strong [and] haunting”, saying “you can tell when an artist is really putting everything on the line.”

The 21-year-old Cali artist sings, “I’m fucked up, I’m black and blue” saying she needs a gangsta to “ride or die with me”. The emotionally loaded lyrics coupled with Kehlani’s soulful voice make this a track with potential to seriously blow up.

‘Gangsta’ is Kehlani’s third release in the past couple of months. Following a six-month hiatus she released the singles ‘CRZY’ and ‘Distraction’.

Kehlani isn’t the only talent that’s gotten on board for the Suicide Squad soundtrack. You’ll also hear the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Action Bronson, Kevin Gates, Imagine Dragons, Skylar Grey and Rick Ross with Skrillex.

Suicide Squad is in cinemas Friday, the same day the soundtrack will be released.
