Following the success of her debut mixtape, Love The Free, which was premiered through fashion title Vogue, Brooklyn DJ and general babe Kitty Kash is set to grace us with another selection of quality tracks. With talk of guest spots from Dev Hynes, Yuna and other young talents, the follow-up Love The Free II is promising to be a worthy sophomore effort.
The first listen off the tape is this dreamy collaboration with another up-and-coming queen of music, TDE’s SZA. Also featuring production by Felix Snow, “Moodring” is as fluid as the song’s namesake suggests and is probably best played while hanging out of a car window while taking a long drive down the coast on a warm day. Speaking on writing the track, SZA recalled a pretty sweet time in her life – partying with Coldplay.
“I wrote ‘Moodring’ the night I opened for Coldplay. I hadn’t slept in two and a half days due to anxiety. After the show, I drank every bottle of champagne Chris Martin [and] the band gave us that night, with Thundercat and my band. Great fucking time.”
Love The Free II is set for release on July 22.
