PREMIERE: Gabriel LCR Ascends on ‘Angel’

The Melbourne artists drops a smooth visual for his newest release.

Gabriel LCR is an artist who has been bubbling through Melbourne’s hip hop underground since he was a teenager. The singer/rapper/producer triple-threat first brought his signature lo-fi, breezy sound as part of nine-piece outfit The Stranger Suite before eventually stepping out as a solo artist.

Gabriel’s love for rap and storytelling have always been the underlying thread to his creative output, but a 2019 trip to Berlin would be the inspiration that opened a wide array of electronic-based music to his style. Elements of techno, dub, UK garage, two-step and drum & bass can all be heard in Gabriel LCR’s sound and production—a genreless hybrid that brings out the best of his influences.

Piquing our interest when he appeared on fellow Melbourne rapper Hancoq’s most recent single ‘Nonsense‘ back in November, today we get a taste of what LCR can bring on his own and we’re liking what we hear. His new single ‘Angel’ is a sombre breakup track tinged with a sense of acceptance and optimism for the future. It’s a track that hits the ear smoothly and leaves us wanting more from the Melbourne up-and-comer.
