Yes, I know the loss of Jay Electronica from Splendour’s stage hurts. Watching another year go by without Elec gracing our shores almost hurts almost as much as watching another year go by where he doesn’t release, Act II: Patents of Nobility (the Turn). Even though you might be thinking life is full of disappointment and despair, there’s a silver lining, you still have a couple of things to be happy about.

a) Releasing ‘Road to Perdition’ in March is a stronger-than-Kimbo-Slice sign that his debut album is finally coming.

b) The fact that Jay Electronica will be getting replaced by the one and only Knxwledge – a beat maker whose music is so advanced he’s he’s practically a higher being.

As well as a phenomenally prolific back-catalogue, Knxwledge has helmed beats for Joey Bada$$ and Kendrick Lamar. Usually you can catch him online, vacuuming blunts with MNDSGN on Suede’s ‘NxWorries’ or in numerous Boiler Room sets, but this year at Splendour you’ll catch him at the Red Bull Music Academy Stage.

Red Bull Music Academy is also announcing the return of the Thursday Night SITG Pre-Party that will be lorded over by Elk Road, Just A Gent, KLP, L D R U, Slumberjack, Swick & Lewis Cancut, and Yahtzel.
