Ladi6 took her music and overall creative direction to the next level with her latest releases Ikarus and Shine On. She found her inspiration while recording in Detroit. And she just finished an extensive tour with indie hip-hop collective, fellow Kiwis, @peace. Now she’s bringing her soulful vibes to Melbourne and Sydney, July 25 and July 26 respectively. We got the chance to catch up with her before she gets here to ask about touring, YouTube and hangovers.

My name is… Ladi.

By day I… dress in civilian clothes and pretend I’m normal.

By night I… save the world, one happy thought at a time, quietly.

My favourite TV show is… in fact not a TV show at all. I do not own a television.

The last movie I watched was… Matilda, for the millionth time.

The first album I ever bought was… not an album but a cassingle of cool like dat, dig able planets.

The last was… Blackbird by Fat Freddys Drop.

If I wasn’t making music I would probably be… studying some amazing thing.

I’m addicted to… worry, and it’s tearing my brain apart!

The best thing about touring is… per diems.

The worst thing is… lack of sleep.

My perfect gig would involve… a sleep beforehand and a late flight the following day.

The first gig I went to was… so long ago I can not be sure my memory is reliable.

The most important thing on my rider is… the water.

My hangover cure is… a sleep and some good food.

My fave youtube vid is… comedy.

My computer’s wallpaper is… a photo of my lover and I pashing.
