SZA and Sampha killed US late night TV over the weekend

With their appearances on Kimmel and Fallon

Two names to look out for this year, SZA and Sampha, took to the stages of US late night TV over the weekend. To put it bluntly, they dominated.

SZA made her late night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel, performing her new tune ‘Drew Barrymore’ for the first time. Most of you will probably recognise this voice from Rih’s ‘Consideration’ but, after this performance, we’re sure that you’ll be recognising SZA for her own merit. SZA’s crooning vocals over the top of a bluesy/funk backdrop makes for a high-key ballad. ‘Drew Barrymore’ will be the lead single from her upcoming record CTRL, an announcement that was also made on Kimmel the other night.

Across the other side of late night TV land, Sampha performed ‘No One Knows Me’ on Jimmy Fallon. His silhouette against that orange-hued backdrop will give you shivers. His own debut album, Process, is due for release on February 3. Stay tuned; we have a feeling that there’ll be a lot to say about Sampha and SZA this year. Check out the two performances on Kimmel and Fallon in the gallery above. If this crooning can’t get you through the Monday blues, we don’t know what will. Happy listening.
