Watch: Banoffee drops ethereal video for ‘I’m Not Sorry’

Taken from her 'Do I Make You Nervous?' EP

Melbourne songstress Banoffee has unleashed the visual accompaniment to ‘I’m Not Sorry’, directed by Coco & Maxamillian. The video to the track, which found its home on the artist’s 2015 EP Do I Make Your Nervous?, showcases the 26-year-old embracing elements of psychedelia, and imagery not dissimilar to those found in the 1997 film The Fifth Element.

When speaking of the song’s origins, and meaning, Banoffee (born Martha Brown) was quoted as saying:

“It’s a push back to all the things we’ve been told so many times we now tell them to ourselves. Women are brought up bound and gagged in shame for being different, for giving a shit, for being ambitious—all because we’re powerful. We can’t be accused of black magic anymore, but it’s so entrenched we’re now killing ourselves to try and mentally survive. I guess I’m saying I’m done saying sorry.”

The video also follows Banoffee’s recent announcement of a headline tour, across Australia ahead of her appearance at this year’s Splendour in the Grass – the last chances to see Banoffee perform live in the country before she heads overseas for further opportunities. Peep the details below, and the video above.
