With his album very near on the horizon, Stormzy has given fans a taste of what is to come with his new track ‘Scary’. Opening with his neck in a noose, the tone is set within the first 10 seconds. To watch it is to be intimidated by the 22-year-old grime rapper, who has zero confidence issues. “Man keeps saying that I’m overrated / I’m like yeah cool but I’m undefeated.” Well, after this, he’s definitely not wrong.
The clip was filmed and edited by Kaylum Dennis, who has worked with Stormzy before. The visuals come to you from a dark place, with shots of candles and cars and with the rapper looming over it all, he makes it pretty clear he’s here to fuck shit up. Of course, we couldn’t help but admire his clothing choices as well, with everything on point from the large hoods to a shoutout to his adidas fam. The South London rapper didn’t hold back on this one, and the song is packed with that Stormzy finesse and honesty that only affirms his place in the game.
This video only adds to the anticipation for when the album is set to drop. Until then, you’ll probably find us just playing this video on repeat. Check it out in the gallery above.
