Netherlands-based artist Hajar Benjida and rapper Young Thug are formally teaming up for an art exhibition at the SCOPE Miami Beach Installation this December, two years after Benjida started the viral Instagram account @youngthugaspaintings. The account began as a high school project, in which Benjida explored the similarities between Young Thug’s aesthetic and fine art pieces of centuries past. It counts Virgil Abloh, Luka Sabbat and SEX himself as followers.

The exhibit, titled Young Thug As Paintings, also explores the Atlanta Oddball’s cultural impact by placing him in frames alongside some of the most famous pieces of art in the world. The new exhibition is not only co-sponsored by Young Thug, but his record label 300 Entertainment, too. In a statement Benjida said, “I jokingly answered an interview question with ‘I hope to discuss renaissance paintings with Thug someday.’ 1.5 years later and I’m bringing my project to life together with Young Thug himself.”

The Young Thug As Paintings Exhibit will appear from December 4th to 9th. For more info on the event, click here.
